Let's Start at the Beginning...

So, how did I start selling online anyways?

I guess you could say I’ve been selling online in some way or another for about 4 years now.

I started selling on eBay in 2018 while working on my Master’s degree. It started out with getting rid of old textbooks that I had laying around the house, which left me wanting more.

That’s when I came across a YouTube channel which inspired me to go thrifting to find items that I could flip for a profit. Shoutout Ralli Roots!

I went to countless thrift stores hoping to find the next best thing. While I did find a few items that were extremely profitable, like used Gucci shoes and a Hermes scarf, this business model just wasn’t doing it for me.

I mean I even tried to take chances and bought a lot of 500+ LulaRoe items for $2,500 on Craigslist to resell on eBay. I thought it was a good idea, until I realized that I had to take photos and measurements of each item, while also creating the listing.

I made some of my money back, but ultimately gave up and donated everything to Goodwill. I think it’s safe to say that LulaRoe now gives me nightmares.

With all of that being said, I quit selling on eBay 2 years later due to lack of time and sustainability. I’m sure that there are successful eBay sellers out there, it just wasn’t for me.

It wasn’t until I came across selling on Amazon in early 2021 that I discovered my true passion – business and selling online through retail arbitrage (RA). I was already familiar with RA thanks to my eBay selling days, I just didn’t realize the profitability that was there.

I started following others who make money selling on Amazon and decided to give this thing a whirl. Thanks Nikki Kirk!

Now, you may be wondering . . .

"Why sell online if working full-time job?"

First, it’s because I enjoy it. I love to shop, but I love it even more now that I can make money doing it! If it ever starts to feel like work, maybe I'll stop and find something else to do.

But the real reason that I sell online and work full-time is that it will allow my husband and I to build a life together that is outside the norm. 

We are on a journey toward financial freedom, which is what started it all. When we embarked on this journey, I wanted to find a “side hustle” that I could continue once we no longer need to work in the corporate world.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy my current work. It’s just that I have discovered a fun way to build a business, make additional income, and set my own schedule, as one day I will no longer need to work my 9-5 job.

While I am enjoying the journey, I live for the day when the most stressful work-related decision I have to make is when I source and when I ship.
